ABOLISH HUMAN ABORTION

BRINGING THE LIGHT OF THE GOSPEL INTO BOLD CONFLICT WITH THE EVIL OF ABORTION

ABOLITIONIST SOCIETY OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA

Speak the Truth in Love

Sometimes there are things that come along that will serve as distractions to what God has called you to do. They may be serious things and they may need to be dealt with, but the confusion and distress it creates can pull you off course from walking in obedience in another area. Don’t let it. We have continued to keep this truth in mind and we serve the LORD without wavering. Certain attacks have not caused us to back down, but rather to fight harder to defend what we believe in. Whatever others choose to do or believe, God knows the truth and He is our defender. And, once again, we have seen God work!

Last Monday, we stood outside Planned Parenthood with our signs, as we do every week. A young woman who was clearly, visibly, pregnant (quite far along) had entered the building. Some time later, she came out and sat on the grass next to the driveway. Mina called out to her, asking if she needed help. She came over and Mina and Crystal were able to speak with her, offer her resources, exchange contact info and encourage her. She was 7.5 months pregnant and, as she later shared with us, her boyfriend had kicked her in the stomach the night before, the baby’s movements slowed down, and she went to the emergency room. Her baby was fine, but she was scared. She left him, taking her 8 year old daughter with her, but she left with almost nothing. She saw the signs we were holding as she went into the abortion clinic and could not stop thinking about what she saw. So she walked out. We show up and hold those signs because we are walking in obedience and, most of the time, we have no idea what impact they have. We just obey and trust God to work. This time, God showed us what He was doing.

Mina and Crystal have kept in contact with her and got her connected with Choice42, along with other local resources. She went to church with Mina a couple days ago and has our church address as well. Keep praying for this small family. She has some medical issues that make the pregnancy high risk, she’s very close to her due date, recently separated from an abusive boyfriend, and her young daughter has complex medical issues as well. We were able to bring the love of Christ to her life and tell her about Him and she’s very grateful. We want to see her and her children brought in to His flock.

We want to bless the lives of others, but we are also blessed when we get to be the ones He uses to bless others. Most of the women going into the abortion mill leave a dead child behind when they leave. We rejoice that this one didn’t! And, contrary to those that want to label us “pro-birthers” who only care about the babies before they’re born, we want to see this whole family healed and thriving and would love to have another sister added to the body of Christ.

We will never regret continuing to obey!

For reference, these are the signs we were holding:

We can be harsh as truth and have compassion at the same time. Don’t trade one for the other.

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way…

When you adapt and overcome to the challenges and distractions that Satan puts in your path, he gives you new ones. It’s a good thing we decided to walk in obedience no matter the cost before we started. We have been frustrated, hurt, confused, and struggled to keep anger and resentment at bay because of what we have walked through the last several months. But we have been determined to not be deterred or angry at God. We know what He has called us to and we remain sure that He will finish what He started.

Staying consistent in obedience regardless of the circumstances has reaped rewards as we have been able to encourage and train other faithful believers. A few months ago, an old college friend of Crystal’s saw some of her abolition facebook posts and reached out. Some of her children are now young adults and already engaged in outreach and evangelism. They also had attempted to engage in pro-life activism and grew frustrated with the typical ecumenical pro-life opposition to sharing the gospel. A couple weeks ago, we had them over and went over our training material, where we presented the gospel as central and foundational to what we do. Two of them joined us for outreach at Planned Parenthood last Monday. With the extra people, we covered the entrance to Planned Parenthood and two corners of the nearby intersection. Two days ago, they stopped by to borrow of couple of signs (until they could get their own) and they plan on taking them to the University of Minnesota this week! Praise the Lord for faithful servants who do not delay to reach people.

God’s plan will endure and the enemy will not win, no matter what your current circumstances look like. As we have said before: Obedience is ours; results belong to God. By the way, they do not live close to us or Saint Paul. They drove close to an hour to get to our house (twice) and at least 45 minutes to get to Saint Paul to serve with us. Ministry is rarely (if ever) convenient and you will make the effort for things that are important to you. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something and God will give you the bandwidth for whatever He has asked you to do. Just come with a willing heart.
